Children's Closets

Since children’s clothes are small we recommend our triple-hanging system. As your children grow, you can raise the middle rod and put shelves above it. No tools are required when you need to make this change and then you can use the bottom shelf for adult-sized pants. The closet should be designed in a way that the closet can grow with the kids. We also like to incorporate extra shelving for younger children as storage for toys as well as clothing. When children are smaller, their clothing storage requirements are less. As they grow older, their clothing requirements shrink and their toy space requirements increase.

Organizing Tips

Long Hang Items

This doesn’t mean what it did twenty years ago. The long dresses that used to hang 60 inches off the floor seem to be gone for now.

We suggest you allow only a very small space for these long items. Most dresses would only hang 48 inches off the ground. This is called ¾ hang.

You may want to allow for more of this but we recommend using only the amount you need because it doesn't allow for double half hang.
